Whitetail Deer: Soft Grass
They’re Back…
A lot of Deer
White-tailed Deer: Buck
White-tailed Deer–Abby
A friend had challenged me to get closer to the deer as a way of getting better photos of them. I had told her I could but it wasn’t easy. I’ve been taking pictures of some of these same deer for more than three years. I’ve taken so many pictures of this ole doe, my friend took to calling her Abby. Well it would appear that Abby has made it through another Winter. This doe was the first doe to get used to me and would allow me to approach her and her fawns. I spent more than an hour with them yesterday. Toward the end of photographing them she approached to less than fifty feet, allowing me to get this very nice photo of her.
Dusty Camera
It snowed early this morning. Not a lot. Just enough to coat everything with a blanket of nice white snow. So I dragged out my dusty camera and headed out into the woods to see if I could find some deer. It always surprises me when I find what might be two or three deer, but maybe those are just shadows.
Only to discover that I’ve found about twenty deer. They tend to group into herds this time of year, mostly for protection.
I spent about an hour and a half with this herd and took a few hundred photos. Including a few shots of them leaping across a road.
There were many familiar faces and I was glad to see they had made it through Winter, including this familiar face. Nice to see his head still hasn’t been mounted.
