British built is what I meant -- I had heard the planes had been brought down from Canada and I did not intend any slight at all. The show costs about forty bucks a day to get in and as I told and retold the stories to my friends, afterwards, seeing the Lancaster was worth price of admission by itself. You folks have some beautiful aircraft. Thank you for bringing them down.

And as for that Kittyhawk -- I didn't know anyone had any.

Thanks again,

Randy

Just a correction... The Lancaster is owned by the Warplane Heritage Museum, in Hamilton Ontario, Canada.

The Kittyhawk, Hurricane (She's the only existing Mark 4 out there), and Spitfire (which is a Mark XVI) all belong to Vintage wings of Canada, out of Gatineau Quebec. Whom I happen to be employed by as a Maintainer. The P-40 is one of my responsibilities.

Great photography, unbelievable photos of planes in the past. It is good to preserve these aircraft and photos for future generations. Each aircraft tells a story, many great men risked their lives to preserve our freedon and way of life. To me, these are the true heroes who fought and died so we could have freedom and live free. I take my hat off to these great men and women who gave so much and got so little in return.

Your plane is so cool! P38s took down Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, Japan's best Admiral, who planned the attack on Pearl Harbor. The 339th fighter squadron of the US army Air Force, equipped with long range P-38 Lightning fighters, was informed of Yamamoto's itinerary and ordered to intercept his aircraft. The meeting point was far in Japanese controlled air space, so 16 Lightnings were sent to intercept Yamamoto along his flight path. They arrived and loitered at low altitude for a while until they saw their target, two G4M Betty bombers escorted by six Zero fighters. The American fighters focused on the bombers and shot down both of them and one of the Zeroes over the jungle.

I saw my first Pileated Woodpecker just a little while ago. We live on two acres of woods in the North Georgia mountains. Jim sees them frequently. We have found their work on many a dead tree in our woods. It was such a majestic bird. How beautiful. I had not realized that the bird call I heard daily was that of this bird. I will head out in our woods and get some pictures for myself soon. Thank you for the information and pictures. Very interesting to read.

Lovely.
This I remember from an aviation mag on aircraft recognition.

Home Home on the range
where the Huns and the cannon shells fly
where the Mustang sure flips
with four guns on his hips
you'll be quick on the draw
or you'll die

silly isn't it to remember such a thing
I once flew in my friends Mustang late Spencer Flacks , but only as baggage but loved it.

She had been foraging and I think she was having trouble swallowing, or maybe she was mimicking me when I point my camera into the air to take plane pictures, or maybe she was sniffing the air. When I got home and looked at the shot it just reminded me of a wolf howling. Thanks for the compliment. Maybe this weekend I'll get some Eagle shots that are as nice as your bird shots.
