Spring Continues to Advance

I know you folks down south and out west probably don’t understand something like ice fishing, but fishing in Wisconsin doesn’t end because ice covers the lakes and rivers.  It just presents the fisher with a different challenge.  So some people, who remain dedicated to fishing year round, will drag themselves out onto ice-covered, wind-swept lakes in the hopes of catching fish.  Some will sit on buckets, others will take out tents and some will erect small shanties.  When I was younger and lived much further north than here, we would drive our cars or trucks out onto the ice.

A typical ice-fishing shanty that the occupant has driven out to with his four-wheeler.  Below is a picture of the same lake, taken on the same day, less than a half mile from the shanty.

Um?  I think you’re going to need a boat.
