White-tailed Deer Surprise

I enjoy the surprises the most.  After all the deer had disappeared into the woods behind me, I waited a few minutes before continuing.  I waited because the deer had gone behind me on both sides which put them very near three different roads.  Not wanting to scare them into a passing car I waited.  When I continued, I headed toward a trail that cuts through the brush, literally.  It makes a tunnel-like passage through the brush so people can cut through the field from the campground to the beach.  While I walked through this tunnel, I heard a dog bark.

Wait a minute, there’s no dogs near here, I thought.

One of the yearlings had barked a warning to the buck, who apparently had waited for me to pass through the tunnel.  Maybe humans aren’t the only ones who understand funnels.
