Canadian Geese: The Final Solution

While I had myself in the wrong position relative to the rising sun to get decent shots of the Bald Eagles returning to their nest, I did get several nice shots of Canadian Geese.

The Geese pictured below are not from Warner Park, but I was thinking of them when I photographed these birds.

The local airport has a problem with birds, especially Canadian Geese.  The Geese who reside at Warner Park have been given a temporary stay of execution.  Dane County Regional Airport officials want the birds destroyed because they fear a Goose strike could bring down an airplane taking off from the airport.  Dane County Parks officials had decided to destroy them, but after a meeting held last Wednesday night, granted the Warner Park Geese a temporary stay of execution so they can explore other solutions.

The eggs laid by the Warner Park Geese have already been destroyed.  Park officials smothered them with oil in order to suffocate the embryos inside.
