Foraging Whitetail Deer

Just a few months ago the Whitetail Deer had banded together, which they do for protection.  Hungry and starving they squabbled over every bit of grass or soft tree bark they could find.

I saw this lone doe along the park’s roadside.  She let me take a couple shots of her before she headed off into the field to her right where she continued to forage.

She would let me get close, but not too close.  Deer will decoy or try to divert you away from their fawns.  This doe kept leading me away from the same spot where I initially saw her, which leads me to believe a fawn lay hidden nearby.
