Thank you…I felt sorry for this deer. When they hide their fawns they’ll leave the area very quickly so nothing sees where they left the fawn. She ran up the side of the road until she saw me and decided to jump the fence which put her in the middle of the road. Then she couldn’t decide what to do and was very panicky at that point. Eventually, she jumped the fence on the other side and vanished into the tall grass.

Barbed wire is not my favourite either!

I understand. This is cow country. Lots of wire here.

oh! Hope she made it back to her fawn. Just as I was writing this, my husband came home and said he almost hit a deer on his way to work. It was in a location where we don’t usually see them, with lots of traffic. A strange place for a deer to be and she was probably very panicked there by the highway.

Wonderful captures. Glad she made it out.

What a lovely series of shots – you can see the panic in her.

Not that I thought the panic was lovely – glad she got away!

Yay! She made it! I saw a deer run straight into a barbed wire fence once, she totally panicked but managed to get unstuck and ran off – thank goodness becuase I could not imagine how I would have gotten her out.

I’m sure her fawn is fine. This is a really stressful time of the year for the does, especially the first timers, which is why I don’t go looking for the fawns. I go and if I see one — great! If not, I find something else to shoot.

Thank you. It was a relief to see her clear that fence.

I have an horror story from my neighborhood re obstacles…..the deer tried to jump a too high gate with spikes on and fastened…..the poor one was screaming before the local gamekeeper came to shot it….
