Necedah National Wildlife Refuge 2

When not looking for birds on or near the water, I walked around various parts of the refuge and saw a lot of Whitetail Deer.

Besides this well-fed deer, the refuge claims to be home to Black Bears, Gray Wolves, Raccoons, Beaver, Mink, and the usual suspects like Squirrels and Chipmunks; while offering safe haven to endangered species like the Karner Blue Butterfly, Blandings Turtle and Whooping Cranes – the most endangered North American animal with fewer than five hundred in existence.
