Humboldt Redwoods State Park

Photographing inside Humboldt Redwoods State Park turned out to be a new experience.

The California Redwoods provide so much shade the lighting never seems to work the way I think it should.  The photos either turn out too dark or too light.  Redwood trees are huge.  They can be five yards (meters) or more wide and soar as much as 110 yards (meters) into the air and they block a lot of sunlight.

This monstrous tree sat next to my campsite and is actually two trees growing together.  From my observations these twin type redwoods are pretty common and it makes for a huge tree.

Like I said, they do not allow much light through.
