Cedar Waxwings

Very early this morning, at the very beginning of hiking, I noticed a Whitetail Doe shadowing me along the trail.  While maneuvering into position and dialing the camera to the morning light, I began taking pictures.

Being so intent on taking her picture, I ended up getting some nice shots of some Cedar Waxwings.  It’s behavior I’ve noticed before.  I’ll be so intent on taking shots of the deer, that other critters will gather around behind me as if trying to figure out what I’m doing.

Several Cedar Waxwings flitted around in the brush behind me.

This one flew to within six feet of me and curiously watched while I took pictures.

Cedar Waxwings Foraging

With the annual deer hunting season in full swing and me not owning any orange hunter’s clothing, I’m unable to go hiking.  So here are some photos of Cedar Waxwings taken in September.

Their colors aren’t as bright as in early spring.
